Sold as Tandur Yellow, Lime Yellow, or French Vanilla depending on the market, this is a sedimentary limestone built up in ancient basins from calcite and aragonite — the two minerals responsible for its pale, honey-gold colour and its fine, even grain.
Like all limestone, it’s a soft, calcium-carbonate rock, which means it’s naturally porous and water soluble. We finish and grade every slab with that in mind, and can advise on sealing and jointing for exterior, high-moisture, or high-traffic settings.

YELLOW LIMESTONE TUMBLED FINISHES MEANS
Tumbling is a mechanical finishing process, not a hand-applied texture. Cut slabs in custom sizes of yellow limestone are loaded into a rotating or vibrating drum along with water, abrasive grit, and sometimes off-cuts of the stone itself, and left to knock against one another for a controlled period.
The repeated, gentle impact wears down sharp arrises, rounds off corners, and lightly pits the surface — reproducing, in a matter of hours, the kind of wear that reclaimed stone develops over decades of foot traffic and weather.
How the tumbled finish is made process
Each batch moves through the same sequence, whether it will leave the yard with machine-cut or hand-cut edges.
1. Block cutting
Quarried yellow limestone is sawn into slabs or cobble blanks at the target paving size before any finishing begins.
2. Edge selection
Blanks are routed to either machine edge-cutting, for a consistent, precise arris, or hand-cutting, where a mason chisels each edge for a more irregular, rustic line.
3. Loading the Vibrating Machine
Cut pieces go into a rotating tumbling drum with water and an abrasive medium — often grit or off-cuts of the same stone.
4. Tumbling cycle
The drum turns for a set cycle time set around 7 mintues to 10 minitues its depends on size, thickness, and the pieces strike one another repeatedly, rounding corners, softening edges, and lightly pitting the face.
5. Washing and drying
Tumbled pieces are washed to remove grit residue and dried before inspection, so colour and texture can be graded accurately.
6. Grading and packing
Finished pieces are sorted by size, edge type, and tone, then packed for domestic dispatch or export.
